Hillsboro Beach Police, in conjunction with the Sea Turtle Conservation Program and Nova Southeastern University are proud to announce the annual Hillsboro Beach Sea Turtle Presentation and Release!
Where: Please meet at Town Hall (1210 Hillsboro Mile, Hillsboro Beach Florida 33062)
When: August 31st, 2015
Time: The sea turtle presentation begins at 8:00PM.
The Hillsboro Beach Police Department would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Fourth of July.
In addition, we would like to inform everyone of the traffic related issues we experience on the Mile during this special event.
Inlet Bridge: will not be shut down like it currently is. The Inlet bridge will be operating under normal conditions.
Pompano Beach: The 14th Street bridge will be in the locked down position from 9:00 PM until 11:00 PM, allowing both vehicular and pedestrians to exit the barrier island. Otherwise, the bridge will be operating under normal conditions.
Deerfield Beach: will be busy the entire day with traffic. The Hillsboro Boulevard bridge will be closed to traffic from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The bridge will be in the locked down position, allowing visitors to go to and from the beach. Once the visitors leave, the bridge will re-open for traffic.
Suggestions: Head south out of Town during this time period. If you are expecting guests have them arrive before 6:00 PM and shuttle in from Pompano.
If any information changes, we will send out a NIXLE and email notification.
The Hillsboro Inlet bridge will be operating in a
normal manner until further notice.
The full bridge closures planned for
May 26th has been postponed. The
Inlet Bridge WILL remain open the
week of May 25th. We will update
with any scheduling changes.
Click It or Ticket, a national campaign coordinated annually by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to increase the proper use of seat belts, takes place May 18–31, 2015.
Using a seat belt is one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in the event of a crash. Using lap/shoulder seat belts can reduce the risk of fatal injury by almost 50%. In 2013, more than 21,000 passenger vehicle occupants died in motor vehicle crashes in the United State; 49% were unrestrained at the time of the crash. An additional 2.4 million nonfatal injuries were treated in emergency departments in 2013. Yet, millions of persons continue to travel unrestrained.
During the 2015 Click it or Ticket campaign, law enforcement agencies across the nation will conduct intensive, high-visibility enforcement of seat belt laws, during both daytime and nighttime hours. Nighttime enforcement of seat belt laws is encouraged because seat belt use is lower at night.
